Architecture

The architectural concept at Werl The Style Outlets combines the history of the region with attractive, contemporary design. The outlet centre blends seamlessly into its surroundings. Traditional building materials such as Werl green sandstone and classic features such as half-timbered houses reflect the character of the region and guarantee an authentic atmosphere with a modern, inviting touch.

The architecture at Werl The Style Outlets was designed by internationally renowned architects and urban planners Chapman Taylor. The architects used the Westphalian Hellweg, a historically significant trading route in North Rhine-Westphalia, as their source of inspiration. Salt, wine, metal goods as well as cloth and clothing, the most important trading goods at the time, were the leitmotifs which inspired the use of similarly themed building materials such as glass, wood, metal panelling and render.

Architectural highlights:

  • New, modern interpretation of traditional regional architectural features
  • Use of high-quality building materials
  • Atmospherically designed market places with green spaces, fountains and rest area
  • Sustainability and preservation of the environment and natural resources (construction in accordance with BREEAM Directives)
